\u201cOh, she is fearless!\u201d said the people who were familiar with our grandmother Jerica<\/strong>. She always knew exactly what she wanted<\/strong> and was not afraid to tell people to their face what was on her mind! She survived two wars<\/strong>, became a widow at a very young age<\/strong>, raised two sons, took over Kunstelj Inn<\/strong> and managed it all by herself<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Jerica was the queen of Kunstelj Inn\u2019s kitchen (on the picture she is cutting meat)<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n

It was important to Jerica that the inn always offered quality food throughout the year<\/strong>. During winter Kunstelj Inn had the traditional pig slaughter and Jerica always called the best butcher<\/strong> to ask him to use the fresh meat to make the best black pudding<\/strong>, bratwurst, sausages and salami<\/strong>. She insisted that all the meat was of the highest quality<\/strong> and professionally prepared<\/strong>. This continues to be Kunstelj\u2019s value<\/strong> as all the meat is supplied by the local butcher<\/strong> Mlinari\u010d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jerica\u2019s winter menu offered blood sausages, bratwurst<\/strong> and Carniolan sausage with sauerkraut or turnip, buckwheat polenta with milk, homemade dumplings<\/strong>, and a special kind of stew, called matev\u017e<\/strong>, made of mashed potatoes and beans<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

All these dishes are still available<\/strong> at Kunstelj Inn. They are prepared according to our grandmother\u2019s recipes<\/strong> and are as full-flavoured<\/strong> now as they were back in the days. Recall the good times and enjoy a feast of traditional winter delights<\/strong> that will warm you from the inside.<\/p>\n
